Linda Shaw-Elementary Principal

Linda and her husband Mark moved to Florida in 2003, when she joined the FBA team as Elementary Principal. Previously, she taught for one year in public school, ten years in Christian schools, and has served in administration for the last eleven years. She graduated from Bowie University in MD with a B.S. in Education and earned her M.Ed. degree from Towson University in Baltimore, MD. Linda holds a Professional Lifetime certificate from ACSI. Linda considers Christian education her life calling and ministry.  She is thankful to God for the opportunity to work at the same Christian school her children attended and graduated from.

 

Lisa Anderson-Kindergarten

Lisa has taught kindergarten for seventeen years; eleven of those at FBA.  Lisa grew up on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia where her father managed rubber plantations for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.  After graduating from the Singapore American School, Lisa attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois.  Lisa met and married her husband Kent at Wheaton.  Kent and Lisa have three children, two sons, Brandt and Erik, and one daughter, Kirstin.  Lisa earned her master’s degree in elementary education from Florida Atlantic University.  Lisa also has her State of Florida certification in elementary education and a Professional Lifetime certification from ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International).

 

Nancy Malik-Kindergarten

Nancy was born in Texas and has lived in 6 states.  She graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Child Development.  Nancy has taught school for 19 years including special education, Head Start, and Kindergarten. Nancy has also been a preschool assistant director, director, and a missionary.  Besides a love for teaching children, Mrs. Malik loves creation science.  Many volunteer positions with whale watch, Division of Wildlife of Colorado and volunteer coordinator has added to the learning necessary to teach creation science. Nancy has one maried daughter, 2 wonderful grandchildren, a married son and has been married over 30 years to Gregg. God is so amazing and has made sure life is always exciting!

 

Joanna Jones-1st grade

Joanna has been teaching first grade at FBA since 2004.  She graduated from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.  She is currently enrolled in the Master's of Reading education program at Florida Gulf Coast University.

 

Melissa Lane-1st grade

Melissa has been teaching for 9 years in many different environments.  With a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Bluffton University, Bluffton, Ohio, she has served in public school, private school and home school situations. She has taught in Ohio, Texas, Europe, and Florida.  This is her second year at FBA.  She and her husband have two children who attend FBA. 

 

Jennifer Nichols-2nd grade

Jennifer joined the FBA staff in 2008.  A graduate from Lee University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Christian Education, Jennifer's emphasis was in Elementary Education.  Living in Naples, Florida for over 13 years (leaving for a short time to adventure in Colorado) she has attended FBCN for 10 of those years.  Jennifer has served in a variety of capacities as an intern for women's, high-school, and children's ministry.  She has also assisted in the food and recreation department at FBA.  As a Christian educator, it is her honor to teach in an environment where God's truth can be freely expressed and integrated into the curriculum.

 

Nancy Wilbanks-2nd Grade

Nancy was born in Marion, Ohio and entered Toccoa Falls College after high school graduation in 1977.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Christian Education and has also earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education.  Nancy is the proud mother of two beautiful daughters and has accumulated 25 years of teaching experience in Christian education.  She has taught kindergarten, second grade, as well as third grade, and has assisted her husband in administration during her years of ministry in Christian schools in three states and two countries.  Nancy is currently teaching kindergarten at FBA and enjoys seeing God work through the lives of the families represented in her class.  Watching her students learn to read and write and instilling a love for the Word of God are two things she is passionate about in her classroom.  Nancy considers it an honor that God has called her to be a part of this great ministry.

 

Priscilla Hamilton-3rd grade

Priscilla has taught third grade at FBA for 4 years.  She has been involved in Christian education for 19 years, and has been a classroom teacher for 18 years.  Priscilla holds a BS degree from Montana State University and a MA in Teaching from Grand Canyon University School of Education.  Priscilla is a native Floridian.  She is from a military family and is the eldest of four children.  Her parents live in Homestead, FL.  In addition to teaching at FBA, Miss Hamilton teaches kindergarten Sunday School at East Naples Baptist Church, where she is a member.

 

Jennifer Carter -3rd grade

I love the Lord passionately!  It is my life's desire to be obedient to Him in every way.  I celebrated my 15th anniversary with my husband, Kevin, this summer.  We have been blessed with three precious children: Josh, 7th grade, Lindsay, 5th grade, and Cami, PK4, all of whom are here at the Academy.  My husband and I are involved in missions and teach 5/6 grade Bible and Life Groups her at FBCN, where we have been members since moving here from Memphis six years ago.  I have taught Kindergarten through 4th grade. I love teaching, and I am grateful that God has given me so many opportunities to do what inspires me.  I pray that each child in my care will feel secure and loved, and that they will be challenged and encouraged to reach their God-given potential academically, socially, and spiritually.  I pray that our time together will bring glory to the Lord, and that we will grow closer to Him each day.  

 

David Gonzalez-4th grade

David was born in Miami, but mainly grew up here in Naples, Florida. David has a B.A. in Elementary Education from Florida Gulf Coast University.  After graduating, David taught 3rd grade at Golden Gate Elementary School, which was also the school he attended as a child. After teaching there from 2004-2006, he felt called by God to transfer to FBA. David enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer and their sons Drew and Bradley. He also plays drums for the FBCN Worship Team.  

 

Tammie Mihet-4th grade

Tammie came to FBA at the start of the 2008-2009 school year and joined the 4th grade team.  She has a total of 9 years of teaching experience that ranges from grades 1-4.  She attended University of Florida where she attained a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and then went on to receive her Master's Degree in Instructional Technology from Baldwin Wallace in Berea, Oh.  Tammie is a proud mother of two boys and a loving wife to her college sweetheart.

 

Janet Davison-5th grade

Janet began teaching 5th grade at FBA in the fall of 2007. She grew up in Guayaquil, Ecuador as the daughter of missionary parents. She attended Crown College in Minnesota where she received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She received her Masters from the Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, New York. Then she returned to Quito, Ecuador with the Christian and Missionary Alliance mission to teach missionary children at the Alliance Academy International. She taught 4th grade for 8 years, ministering with high school outreach groups and in the local Ecuadorian church. Upon returning to the United States, she taught in the Florida public schools for one year before coming to FBA. She holds current teaching licenses from the State of Minnesota and the State of Florida.  

 

Mary Works-5th grade

Mary Works was born and raised in Warren, Michigan.

She graduated with honors from Michigan State University with a BA in Elementary Education.  She earned her MA degree from NKU.  Mary has received several awards including "Who's Who Among American Teachers-1996". Mary has taught in Michigan, Hawaii, Tenessee and Kentucky. She also served as a principal in Kentucky.  Mary is married to Sonny and they have one son named Benjamin.

 

Margery Bernhardt-Media Specialist

Margery was born and raised in Naples, Florida and is very proud to be a 4th generation native Neapolitan.  During her high school years, she was a media center aide and began to develop a passion for literature.  Margery graduated from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia with a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education.  Margery is married and has one son, Daniel who attends FBA.  Margery began her career at FBA teaching 1st grade the year the academy first began.  She has also worked as a ministry assistant and preschool aide.  One of her favorite Bible verses is Philippians 4:13.  Margery loves reading and feels blessed to have the opportunity to share her passion for good children’s literature with FBA’s students through the library.

 

Lynne Mansfield-Art

Lynee received her BA in Art History from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.  During her time at UP she studied Art History in Paris, France.  She has three children; Forrest, Karma Leigh, and Katrina.  In 1990 she earned her teaching certificate from National University in Vista, California. Lynne taught in Elizabeth, New Jersey for three years.  In 1996, Lynne moved with her mother and three children to Naples, Florida where she started a landscaping business. The Lord led her to FBCN where her youngest daughter started attending FBA.  Soon thereafter, Lynne was saved and baptized.  In 2004, she was hired as the elementary art teacher at FBA.  Lynne is currently teaching PreK4-5th grade art and is grateful that God is a God of second chances.  She finds being obedient to Him brings her the greatest joy in life.

 

Marilou Masteangelo-Resource Teacher

Marilou joined the FBA staff as a part time resource teacher in 2006.  The previous four years were spent as an educational consultant for Educational Resources traveling and training teachers throughout the eastern United States.  Marilou retired from teaching in 2002 after teaching in the classroom and as a reading specialist for over twenty years in the city of Syracuse, New York.  Marilou received a BS in Music Education from Crane School of Music, SUNY Postdam, NY.  Many years later she enrolled at SUNY Oswego to be certified in elementary education and receive a MS in Reading Education.  Marilou is permanently certified in New York State in both Reading and Elementary Education. Teaching at FBA has been a true blessing.  She and her husband live in Ft. Myers.

 

Lani Mastrangelo-Music

Lani was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia.  Lani received her Bachelor's degree in music from Southern Methodist University and her Master's degree in music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  In 2001, she began teaching general music in the Collier County Public Schools and came to FBA the following school year.  Lani currently teaches general music in 1st-5th grades, as well as strings in the Elementary, Middle and High School.  Lani also serves as the related arts team leader.
