Letter from the elementary Principal
Elementary School Snapshot: A look at what makes us great!
Welcome! We are on a Joyful Journey with Jesus this year at FBA. I'm Mrs. Shaw, the Elementary Principal, and I want to take this opportunity to invite you to join us on the 2008/2009 journey. We have a wonderful elementary program for children grades K through 5. Permit me to share some highlights about our program with you. We currently have 257 students enrolled in the elementary school. We've been watching God grow our school for the past several years. We have three K classrooms, and two sections of every other grade level. Our K and 1st grade classrooms have a teacher plus an aide, providing a good teacher/student ratio.
Our Staff:
Highly qualified, spiritually gifted teachers inspire a love for learning and model Christ in word and deed. All of our teachers are ASCI certified, and are dedicated to providing a nurturing classroom environment reflecting "excellence for the Lord."
Our Strategic Focus on "Kingdom Education" and Biblical Worldview:
Not all Christian schools are created equally. We are a discipleship school, with an intentional plan and an eternal purpose. Three words characterize our program and practice: Christian, Comprehensive, and Connected.
Christian: We recognize the Bible as the source of all Truth. FBA teachers present all information from a Christian worldview perspective. FBA students are taught to rely on the Holy Spirit to impart Truth, and to empower them to think and act biblically. FBA families have at least one parent who has made a profession of personal faith in Christ, and who supports the academy's mission statement.
Comprehensive: We teach total Truth for the total child. The instructional program at FBA is challenging and is designed to meet the individual needs of each child. In addition to core academics, Related Arts classes and extracurricular activities including art, music, strings, athletics, enrichment, technology and Spanish enhance the program. We acknowledge all children are gifts from God with unique abilites and interests. We partner with parents to discover their child's strengths as we help the child develop Christian character and Biblical worldview.
Connected: We teach so that all academic content is integrated with specific Biblical principles to help even young children make connections between learning and real life. Our goal is to educate children for service in God's "kingdom", by equipping them to see all of life through the lens of scripture, with the direct support of the home, the church and the Christian school.
Our State of the Art Facilities:
Our facilities include a cafeteria, gynmasium, Media Center, technology lab, music and art studios, and "hands-on" Creation Science Learning Lab, and a school clinic. We have well-appointed, colorful classrooms with interactive mimeo for instruction.
Our Safe, Secure Environment:
Our trained church/school security staff carefully monitor our campus 24/7 to ensure that FBA students are safe and supervised at all times during the school day.
Linda H. Shaw,
Elementary School Principal
