Middle School Faculty
Jill Barnes-Speech/Singing Saints
Jill teaches Related Arts classes at FBA, including HS Worship Team, MS drama, 7th grade speech, middle school and elementary choir, kindergarten and preschool music. This is her 14th year teaching. Jill is certified through ASCI and the state of Florida and received her Music Education Degree from Okahoma State University.
Zaida Brown-Spanish
Zaida graduated with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies From Hodges University, where she has been a Spanish guess instructor. She is also the recipient of the Sextant award (2006) for her writing work printed in The Sextant. Zaida has done a wide variety of course work in education in the University of Costa Rica. She was born in Costa Rica and educated in both United States of America and Costa Rica.
Jennifer Devin-Art
Jennifer was born in Kansas City, Misouri and spent her childhood in Ohio, New York, and Connecticut. She received her Bachlor's Degree in Fine Arts from the University of New Haven and is certified from ACSI to teach all levels of art. She also has her state certification in Art Education. Jennifer taught K-8 art for for years at Shoreline Christian School in Madison, CT. Jennifer has run various art clubs and summer art camps.
Shalice Hall-PE
Shaliece teaches Pre-K4—3rd grade physical education at FBA. She graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, AL in 4 years with a degree in Biology Pre-med track. She substitute taught last year in the spring of 2008 and joins the staff as a teacher this year. She has coached for 10 years, has worked as a camp counselor at Kanakuk Kamps in MO and Kids Across America, also in MO and worked at the YMCA as a camp counselor. She is single and has one Weimeraner dog named Winnee. She is a Florida Cracker, coaches junior Olympic volleyball, scuba dives, enjoys boating and fishing, and plays tennis when nobody is looking.
Matt Jansen-PE/Fit For The King
Matt was born and raised in Kimberly, WI. Coach Jansen is a graduate of Kimberly HIgh School in Kimberly, WI. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science and Education. Cach Jansen is certified to teach social studies, physical education and health, and driver education through the state of Florida. Matt taught and coached at Barron Collier High School and at Pope High School in Marietta, GA. Throughout the course of his teaching career Coach Jansen has taught U.S. History, World History, Sociology, Psychology, Algebra, physical education, and driver education. This is currently Coach Jansen 1st year at FBA and he teaches physical education, health, and Fit For The King courses.
Lori Kantner-Science/Math
Lori Kantner was born and raised in Champion, Ohio. She graduated from Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania. She also attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina while her husband attended seminary. Lori loves to challenge her students to grow spiritually and academically in order bring glory and honor to the Lord. She has taught for the Department of Defense Schools in Ft. Benning, Georgia and for Franklin County Schools in North Carolina. She has been a teacher for over eight years, 2 years at FBA, and also served as a youth director for two and a half years in Douglas, Georgia. She married her high school sweetheart, Rob Kantner and they have been married for over eighteen years. They have four wonderful children, three of whom attend FBA. Kaleb is in the 10th grade, Laurin is in the 8th grade, Jessica is in the 4th grade and Jack is 2 years old. FBA has been such an amazing blessing for the Kantner family and Lori is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the staff at FBA.
Jennifer Lines-Math
Jennifer joined the staff at FBA in 2006. She previously taught math for 11 years with Collier County Public Schools. Born and raised in Michigan, Jennifer moved to Naples in 1993 after graduating from Northwood University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Jennifer aso has a Florida Professional Teaching Certificate in MS and HS math as well as an ASCI teaching certificate. She currently teaches Albegra 1, Algebra II, and Geometry. Jennifer is the FBA High School Girl's basketball coach. In addition to coaching, Jennifer enjoys scrapbooking, running, and spending time with her family.
Lani Mastrangelo-Orchestra
Lani wsa born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. Lani received her Bachelor's Degree in Music from Southern Methodist University and her Master's Degree in Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2001, she began teaching general music in the Collier County Public Schools and came to First Baptist Academy the following school year. Lani currently teaches 1st-5th grade music as well as strings in the elementary, middle, and high school. Lani aslo serves as the Related Arts Team Leader.
Alan Moon-Band
Mr. Moon currently teaches two sections of band. His full time position is Marketing and Communications Manager for the Emergency Physicians of Naples. Thank you Doctors for allowing him to teach during lunch. He is a former band and orchestra director from the Kansas City, Missouri area. More recently he has several years of experience in the telecom and IT sectors having worked for companies like Toshiba and Sprint. He graduated from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri with a BS in Music Education. He has a Masters from the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He and his wife Betty have two married children and two grandchildren. He is a deacon at FBCN and also loves worshipping while playing in the orchestra.
Renee Pigg-Language Arts
Renee’ teaches 6th and 7th grade Language Arts. She graduated from Upstate University in Spartanburg, South Carolina with a BA in Educatin. She has taught in Louisiana and Florida. This is her first year at FBA. She has been married for 28 years and has three sons, Jonathan who is 25, David who is 22 and Timothy who is 18. God always blesses abundantly. While experiencing “empty nest” syndrome God gave her 98 wonderful students to love and teach. Mrs. Pigg says, “It is my desire that my students have a love for Jesus, a love for reading and a love for learning”.
Nancy Powers-Language Arts
Nancy joined FBA as the Resource teacher in 2003. Prior to that time, she served for 4 years on the FBA School Board. Although not a true native, Nancy moved to Naples with her family as a teenager and graduated from Naples Christian Academy. She went on to pursue a B.A. in Exceptional Student Education at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina followed by a M.Ed. at Georgia State University. Her teaching career began in Atlanta, Georgia where she taught for five years. In 1993, Nancy and her husband Jim moved back to Naples where she taught in Collier County Public Schools for six years. Nancy’s experience ranges from a self-contained classroom to team teaching third and fourth grade. She has been certified to teach in three states. She and her husband have two children who attend FBA.
April Radcliffe-Technology
April joined FBA in 2002. At FBA she taught fourth grade for a year and then moved into the technology teacher positon. She has been the yearbook advisor for the last four years. April has her Bachelor's Degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University and she received a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Instructional Technology from Grand Canyon University. She has taught elementary through middle school technology. She currently teaches middle school technology, Photoshop, Computer Literacy, and Digital Design. April enjoys all spectator sports, horseback riding, water skiing, reading and vacation!
Marcus Rodriguez-Bible
Marcus Rodriguez has been teaching at FBA for five years. He teaches the middle school Bible classes and enjoys teaching the students how to apply Biblical principles to every area of life. He has taught previously in other Christian schools for fifteen years along with working as a youth pastor and doing other church ministries. He is married to Pam, who also teaches at FBA, and they have two children, Antonio and Alicia who attend the academy. In addition to his teaching duties, Marcus coaches the boys and girls soccer teams where he uses I Corinthians 10:31 as his team verse.
Pam Rodriguez-Math/Science
I teach in the middle school here at FBA for the past 7 years. I am teaching sixth grade math and science as well as basic math 7 and Girls’ Discipleship. I graduated from Citadel Bible College with a Bachelor’s of Religious Education and recently finished my Master of Arts in Teaching through Grand Canyon University. I have been teaching for 22 years, all of which have been spent in Christian schools. I am married and have two children, Antonio and Alicia. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and relaxing with my family. I am blessed to be serving the Lord with my whole family here at FBA.
Cindy St. John-History
Cindy teaches Middle School History at FBA. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and from the University of Phoenix with a Master’s Degree in Education/Curriculum and Instruction. This is Cindy’s 6th year at FBA. Cindy is married to Ron and they have four daughters. Victoria is a freshman at Lander University in Greenwood, S.C., Heather is a freshman at Florida Gulf Coast University, Erin is in the 8th grade and Summer is in the 3rd grade. Both Erin and Summer attend First Baptist Academy. Ron is a tennis pro and professional trainer at Stonebridge Country Club. Cindy enjoys tennis, reading and college basketball. Actually, she enjoys almost all sports but being a native of North Carolina she bleeds Carolina blue whenever the Tarheels are playing. Cindy has a passion for History and for Middle School students and she knows that God has placed her at FBA for a very special reason. Cindy feels very blessed to be a part of the FBA family and she truly believes that God is on the verge of a great work at First Baptist Academy.
Scott Stewart-PE
Scott Stewart teaches physical education k-8th grade at FBA. He graduated from University of Florida with a BS in Sports Administration. He is entering his second year at FBA as a full time teacher. God led him to FBA after spending 12 years of playing professional basketball in Europe and overseas. He is also a basketball coach and instructor in various basketball camps in the USA and overseas. He is married to Margaret Stewart who is from New Zealand and they have 3 children and are expecting a fourth Dec. 24th, 2008. He loves sports , movies, and cards as a hobby. His favorite cities in the world are Naples, Fl and Christchurch , New Zealand.
