Article is courtesy of New Mexico Athletics.

The University of New Mexico women's basketball team has announced that Emily Lines, a 6-foot-1 guard from Naples, Fla., has signed a letter of intent to play for the Lobos in 2015-16, coach Yvonne Sanchez announced Monday.

She is the third recruit UNM has signed for the 2015-16, joining 6-1 guard Jannon Otto (Hesperia, Calif.) and 6-3 center Jaisa Nunn (Kirkland, Washington). The three signees gave the Lobos their BlueStar Top 50 recruiting class honorable mention, making them the only program in the Mountain West to earn that distinction.

"We are excited to have Emily join Jannon and Jaisa to the Lobo Family," Sanchez said. "Emily is a big guard who is a 3-point specialist.  She has a high basketball IQ, comes from a terrific program and family, and we are looking forward to a terrific future with Emily on board.  This completes an outstanding recruiting effort that our staff put together with hard work and building relationships."

Each of the three major recruiting sites - BlueStar, Collegiate Girls Basketball Report and All-Star Girls Report - listed a Lobo signee as the highest-rated recruit entering the conference. BlueStar Basketball rated Lines the No. 203 overall prospect in the nation. Collegiate Girls Basketball Report ranked Nunn the 206th-best overall prospect and All-Star Girls Report ranked Nunn the No. 219 prospect overall.

Here is more information on Lines:

A three-time Florida Association of Basketball Coaches All-State selection and two-time Class 2A Florida Miss Basketball finalist, Lines has amassed more than 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds during her high school career. Her 2,132 career points unofficially are just 233 points short of the Collier County record for points.

BlueStar Basketball Report ranks Lines as the No. 203 prospect in the nation and the No. 25 guard in her class.

Lines also excels in the classroom with a 4.0 grade-point average; she is interested in studying Education or Health Sciences at UNM.

She averaged 18.5 points, 11.2 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game as a junior for the Lions and coach Jennifer Lines - Emily's mother. Emily was a second-team 3A All-State performer, scoring a season-high 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in First Baptist Academy's District 12-3A District semifinal game against Neumann High School. She also had a 19-point, 21-rebound effort in the Lions' win over Charlotte High School.

Lines averaged 17.5 points and 7.9 rebounds as a sophomore for the District 10-2A champion team, and she had a career-high 33 points and 16 rebounds in the Lions' 66-51 victory over Sarasota Christian in the first round of the 2013 2A Florida State Championships. She also won the 3-point shooting competition at the Naples Holiday Tournament.

During her freshman season in 2012, Lines averaged 16.8 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game for the 23-6 Lions. The Lions advanced to the second round of the 2A state championships.
