Annual Fund

The primary purpose of the annual fund is to allow flexibility in meeting the need for services, events or training that would not be otherwise available in the general operating budget.  A gift to the annual fund affects every student and every program in that it insures that students and faculty will have the ability to go beyond what our general budget facilitates.  Academics, Athletics, Related Arts, Technology, and Facilities are just some of the areas impacted by a gift to the annual fund.  Most independent private school associations recommend that 10% of a school’s operating budget come from annual giving.  Your generosity is critical to the preparation of the next generation for life, learning, and leadership.

Financial Aid

Approximately one out of every three students who attend First Baptist Academy receives some form of financial aid. FBA is committed to helping families who are committed to a Kingdom Education but who, also, have demonstrated a willingness to stretch their own financial resources in making the education of their children a priority. The average award for financial aid is approximately $4,000 and is determined by an independent third party organization. Each application is carefully reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee to insure that all monies designated for financial aid are used properly and efficiently. We anticipate that the need for financial aid will exceed $500,000 for the school year.

Ways to Give

First Baptist Academy

When a child becomes a student at FBA, they join a community that values ministry outreach, in academic excellence, in volunteerism, in support of our extraordinary fine arts and exceptional athletic programs, and in helping financially to sustain and enhance our vision.
Gifts of all sizes help us accomplish our mission to provide a distinctive and innovative educational experience founded upon a biblical worldview.  Gifts of your talents, time, and prayer are also appreciated and provide a great way to build relationships and more fully experience what it means to be part of and an intercessor for the FBA family.
A gift to First Baptist Academy in any form is an eternal investment.  If you share our vision, we welcome and deeply appreciate your support.
Financial support to FBA can be summarized in three types of gifts:
  1. Gifts That Make an Impact After Your Lifetime
  2. Gifts That Pay You Income
  3. Gifts You Make Today

Gifts That Make an Impact After Your Lifetime

Will or a Living Trust: Create a Legacy with your will. A gift bequest designates FBA as a beneficiary in your will. You may specify that a certain dollar amount, a specific percentage of the estate, or a particular asset be given to the school.  Gifts made through your will can provide considerable future tax benefits, which allow more of your assets to pass to those you care about. Some advantages include:

  • Simple to Set Up
  • Can be changed at anytime
  • Could Provide estate tax relief

Beneficiary Designation: Everyone wins when you name us as the beneficiary to your retirement plan assets, life insurance or insurance annuities:

  • You can leave other, less-taxed assets to your family
  • You can also change your mind at any time
  • Our organization can put the full amount of your gift to good work

Life Insurance: Life insurance is another great way to make a planned gift to FBA.  You can purchase a new life insurance policy or contribute all or part of a policy that you currently own, but no longer need. For example, you may have purchased a policy to provide for minor children and they are now financially independent adults. When FBA is named as the owner and beneficiary of a policy, the annual premium payments will be tax-deductible.  For relatively few dollars in premium payments each year, you can provide for a significant future gift to the school.

IRA/Retirement Plans: Similar to giving through a life insurance policy, you can designate FBA as the beneficiary of a percentage of or all of your IRA or retirement account.

Retained Life Estate: Did you know that you can donate your house to us, but retain the right to live in it for the rest of your life? Here are some advantages:

  • You receive an income tax deduction
  • You will avoid the hassle of selling the real estate
  • You will feel satisfied knowing that your gift supports our mission

Gifts That Pay You Income

Charitable Gift Annuity: Enjoy a Lifetime of Payments While Supporting Us
When you set up a CGA with us, we make fixed annual payments to you, or someone you name, for life. Payments are based on your age on the date of the gift. After your lifetime, the remaining balance of your gift supports our mission. Some advantages to a CGA include:

  • Capital gains income reportable over your life expectancy
  • A partial charitable deduction, when you itemize
  • Payments for life (starting now or deferred)

Charitable Remainder Trust: Eliminate Potential Taxes and Enjoy Reliable Payments
With a CRT, you can receive income each year for the rest of your life from assets—cash, stock or real estate—you give to the trust. Your income can be either variable or a fixed amount. After your lifetime, the remaining balance of your gift supports our mission. Some advantages to a CRT include:

  • Future estate tax relief
  • A partial charitable deduction, when you itemize
  • Up-front capital gains tax relief
  • Professional management of assets available

Gifts You Make Today

Cash Gifts (cash, check, or credit card), unlike other giving methods, provide an immediate benefit to FBA. Gifts of cash are tax deductible in the current year if the gift is received by December 31.

Memorial Gifts: FBA is blessed to be the recipient of gifts from those who desire to honor or memorialize another individual. For example, donors can make a gift in honor of a teacher who has made a difference in a student's education or in memory of a loved one.  A notification letter will be mailed to the individual or family.

Vehicles (cars, boats, RVs, motorcycles)

Real Estate

Stocks, mutual funds, and bonds: Charitable gifts of appreciated securities such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds that have been held for longer than one year can be deducted at their full fair market value while avoiding capital gains tax.  Gifts of real estate are handled the same way, with the donor receiving the same tax benefits.

Gifts of Goods and Services can be donated and are tax-deductible as provided by law.  These are gifts of tangible value, such as purchasing microscopes for the science lab or blocking sleds for the football team, for example.

We believe that God is the giver of every good gift (James 1:17) and that He invites us to give back to Him in order to invest in His Kingdom. God’s Word teaches us the importance of being a cheerful giver and to sow generously, investing in God’s work.  You can give financially to the Lord & support the ministry of First Baptist Academy in any of the following ways:

We absolutely LOVE and are so blessed to be at FBA!!  We love that our three children are getting a Kingdom Education and are surrounded by such a loving staff.  We couldn't ask for a better school and are so thankful that God led us to FBA!

I love the Christ-centered, Spirit-led discipling community.  I love the small size of the school.  I love the fact that genuine compassion and love for the students, not legalism and religiosity, drives the educational culture and informs the mentality of the teachers and administrators.
