Mary Kay Riley: email@example.com
On behalf of First Baptist Academy, we would like to welcome you to our Extended Care Program. The following information will address our policies and procedures and is designed to help your family become more familiar with our program. These procedures will serve as guidelines to ensure the success of our extended care program. Our staff is looking forward to serving you and your family.
First Baptist Academy Mission Statement
To partner with parents to develop students with Christian character and a biblical worldview, equipping them for life, learning and leadership.
Our Guiding Principles
As a Christian School, we are distinctly unique. It is a privilege for all of us to work together building a school which honors God. Therefore, everyone (adults and students) at First Baptist Academy will maintain the following guiding principles:
All of us at FBA strive to be:
Cooperative: Galatians 6:10
Respectful: Ephesians 6:1-3
Responsible: Colossians 3:25
Christ-like: Philippians 2:5
First Baptist Academy hires only qualified staff over the age of 21 to work in the Extended Care Program. A background check is required for all employees who work with this program. Staff is required to actively participate in the supervision of children at all times, regardless of the type of activity.
Staff Information Folders
First Baptist Academy staff will be supplied with an information folder/binder with the following information:
Principals phone numbers
School security personnel/Premise Keepers phone numbers
Extended Care Staff personal contact information
Walkie-Talkies to reach school security without using phone lines
Hours of Operation
First Baptist Academy Extended Care Program operates Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 5:30 pm to children in grades PK3-8th when school is in session.
Early Release Days
Parents are informed of early release days through the FBA School Calendar, class newsletters and RenWeb. If a parent is not on time to pick up their child(ren), they will be taken to the elementary office and parents will be contacted.
Fees and Registration
Extended Care requires pre-registration and is not a drop in service; three days per week is required. The registration form can be found on our website or under ParentsWeb Resource Documents. You will be billed at the beginning of each month for the previous month's use at a rate of $8/hr/child, with a minimum billing of $50 per child per week. Late fees will be applied as following: $10 for each billing cycle past due date of invoice. There will also be late pick-up charges: $1.00 for every minute past 5:30pm. Any outstanding Extended Care invoices or continual late pick ups will be referred to the School Administration for immediate action and will result in a loss of Extended Care privileges until invoices have been paid.
All children will be checked in when they arrive at the Extended Care program by a staff member, and every child must be signed out by a designated parent or guardian at the end of each day via the electronic sign out sheet. We also ask that every adult authorized to pick up a child bring a picture ID.
Please notify the extended care staff via e-mail and contact your child’s school ministry assistant if someone else other than a parent or guardian will be picking up your child or if your child will be absent or late to extended care due to participation in other extra-curricular activities for a period of time.
A designated snack time will be provided daily for the students. Snacks are to be provided by parents on a daily basis. Water bottles are also encouraged for time spent on the playground.
Procedure for Injury
The First Baptist Academy Extended Care staff will contact the parents/guardians of any child that is injured while in our care. If a child in our care suffers an injury whether self-induced or by another child, the staff witnessing the injury will fill out an accident/incident report form.
Structured Homework Time
A 45 minute structured time will be assigned daily for students to work on homework. Homework is generally effective in improving academic achievement. Students are responsible for bringing to class required notebooks. If a student forgets necessary materials to complete assigned work, they will not be allowed to go back to their classrooms and get them to ensure their safety. During this time a student not working on homework will have the flexibility to work on a center of their choosing.
Change of Clothes/Dress Code Guidelines
Students in our extended care program may bring a change of clothes that are consistent with the guidelines set forth in our parent student handbook found on our website and in ParentsWeb Resource Documents.
Electronic devices of any kind are not permitted in the Extended Care program. If a student needs to contact their parents they may use the Extended Care phone with staff approval.
Students Coming From Other Activities
Students coming to the Extended Care program from other activities such as sports or Enrichment classes will be signed in by a staff member to ensure current attendance in case of an emergency. Parents should notify Extended Care staff to be aware of late arrival.
Students are allowed to play in non-structured recreational activities in a friendly and nurturing environment. They will be allowed to participate on the playground area such as slides, monkey bars, fire pole, basketball court. Students are required to follow playground rules set by the staff such as coming down the slide, using “Monkey Bars” correctly, and never leaving the fenced area unless approved by a staff member. For the safety of the children, gates will remain closed at all times. A staff member will escort them to the door if they need to use the restroom and make sure they return to the playground area. During hot weather, staff will call students for frequent water breaks and students may sit in the hallway for a few minutes to cool down.
Please be aware that the FBA Extended Care program is not responsible for lost, misplaced, torn, stained or stolen items. If a student loses an item and it is found by someone else, it is placed in the lost and found container in the school resource room. Items are discarded on a monthly basis.
